The soil doesn´t know of COVID, or the resilience of the land.

Very unexpectedly COVID hit us all, and hard. This virus doesn´t know of geographical, personal or finantial borders and it has affected the majority of us one way or another. Governments around the world have laid out strategies that forced personal confinement in an attempt to protect the health of its population but at the expense of loss of business and human touch, it has drained our buoyancy.

There has been one thing, however, that this outbreak has not been able to beat- the land, the soil, the vines. Wineries around Mallorca- and I imagine all over the world- have had to work through this whole outbreak because the land doesn´t know of coronavirus, it´s resilient but demanding and it gives as it receives.

After conversing with some farmers I realised how much of a privilege it has been in these difficult times to have the land to work and care for, like a small pocket of the normality we all had and took for granted. In a world that is rapidly becoming unrecognisable, the intrinsical relationship between human touch and nature has strengthen during this unprecedented time. Nature has a funny way to always find a way, it´s strong and resilient but for the vines…  nothing is better than the farmer´s footprints – and this care is always present in the wine we later enjoy.

In the midst of this new reality which hasn´t left many untouched we are happy to see some activity resuming. As a new, family run, small business we would be lying if we didn’t admit that COVID has challenged our excitement, cancelled all our summer plans and tried to mess with our dream. However, here we stand, still typing, still publishing, exploring the possibilities of the virtual world with wine tasting and still eager to take you on a wine tour this summer if your plans haven´t been cancelled…

And if we don’t see you this summer, we shall see you the next!
